AKNMTECH concludes SMS Campaign

for TAPAL

 

 

Tapal Tea, a prominent brand in the Beverages category has always been a leader in promoting its various brands. To stay abreast of its competitors and with collaboration of AKNMTECH they came up with the concept of song branding and developed “Tapal Family Mixture Song- Lagey Na Nazar” that is widely acclaimed by their target market. AKNMTECH, Pakistan’s premier Mobile Value Added Service Provider managed the Interactive part of the campaign that allowed Tapal to rapidly roll out its new promotion through a highly effective medium of Short Messaging Service or SMS on a unified shortcode ‘1313’ accessible by subscribers of all 6 mobile operators currently operating in Pakistan.

 

This month long SMS Campaign was launched on 19th August’06. Promotion of this campaign was extensively done on prominent Radio Channels and huge response was received from the consumers. To receive free ringtone of “Laagey na Nazar” the sender had to text in their name to unified short-code 1313. The participants were further entitled to receive Mobile Handsets and Gift Hampers in weekly lucky draw held live on FM Radio Channels.

 

Commenting on the occasion Tapal’s GM Marketing Mr. Haroon Rashid said “At Tapal, we are always looking for innovation in our communications. We also look for new avenues like what was recommended to us by AKNMTECH to involve our consumers and increase their interaction with the Brand.”

 

This SMS promotion facilitated Tapal in gaining popularity among the masses with respect to song branding and at the same time provided its consumers an interactive as well as a rewarding tool. This was first of its kind content branded SMS Campaign done in Pakistan which was appreciated by large number of consumers.

Efforts Geared up for Mobile Banking in Pakistan

 

The ministry of information technology has directed the country’s telecom regulator and services providers to work closely with the central bank and remove hurdles in the way of introduction of electronic mobile banking in Pakistan.

Mobile banking facility is in place in many developing countries consisting of comprehensive banking services including money transfer, cash-in, cash-out, person to person transfer, bill payments, on-line purchases etc.

However, the lack of coordination among various stakeholders has hindered the availability of these services in Pakistan. The directives were issued at a meeting presided over by IT Minister Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari here on Thursday. Governor State Bank, Shamshad Akhter, IT Secretary Farrakh Qayyum and officials of the regional players in the mobile banking sectors were present.


Mr Leghari stressed the introduction of innovative services such as electronic and mobile banking to leverage the substantial reach of mobile phone services to the common man. He urged all stakeholders, including the IT ministry, State Bank and service providers to collaborate their efforts to remove all barriers to the introduction of innovative e-banking services.


He directed the IT ministry’s officials to work in close coordination with SBP and mobile phone operators to put in place the banking facility.

 

Mobile phone banking services have been successfully launched in various countries including Philippine where it offers the consumers a virtual wallet providing for a convenient way of transferring and remitting funds through SMS. The codes and messages exchanged in the process can then be converted to cash at widely deployed distribution channel locations and even retail outlets. Details>>
